WWTP of Detmold, Germany
The WWTP of Detmold with a wastewater flowrate of 20,000 – 25,000 m3/d came in touch with Alphabio aiming to reduce the excess sludge that was produced in the plant. After the implementation of bioaugmentation in the plant, a significant reduction of the excess sludge was observed.
Additionally, fats, oil and grease were eliminated in the influent pump station, while sludge settling ability was significantly improved (SVI = 60 mL/g). Furthermore, the sludge de-waterability was positively affected, resulting in the reduction of chemicals used in the sludge dewatering stage.
