In the challenging case of BIOSUN in Pamukova, Turkey, a wastewater treatment plant, which is treating digestate from an anaerobic plant for biogas production, asked for the implementation of bioaugmentation in order to comply with the municipal sewer network quality standards. The plant had an influent flowrate of 100-120 m3/d with an average COD and TSS of 30,000 and 25,000 mg/L, respectively. After applying the bioaugmentation, the plant has achieved to increase the quantity of treated waste by five times, also to improve the reduction of COD, TSS, NH4 and TP, while the severe clogging phenomena that the membrane bioreactor was facing have been effectively mitigated.
